The first month of twenty-twelve (2012) has come and gone. The 23rd Mid Winter Conference has come and gone too. The conference was held Saturday, January 7 and The Council of Governors met the 6th-8th so it was a busy week-end and it was productive. When the eight District Governors meet they hear reports and learn what the Lions of Indiana are doing. They discuss and approve/disapprove business issues and the meetings are open to all. It is truly an opportunity to learn what the Lions of Indiana are doing.
Mid Winter Conference is also an opportunity to learn and improve our skills in a variety of topics lead by skilled and knowledgeable people. It was also a time the members of E1 can be proud of. This year the Keynote Speaker was to be our own 1st VP of LCI, Wayne Madden but because of a medical issue he and Lion Linda were unable to attend. Instead ID Joe Preston of Arizona was our speaker. ID Joe will also be a candidate for 2nd VP of LCI in Korea next June. He and many others have kind words and compliments for The Indiana Lions and the many great programs offered. This is something all the Lions of Indiana can be proud of.
At the closing of MWC I was called to the stage not one or two times but three, something only E1 was called to do. The first time E1 had the greatest percentage of members present of the eight districts. The second time we met our attendance goal and the third our PR Chair, Lion Sandy Ruane & our Global Leadership Chair PCC Linda Tincher were recognized for meeting our goal. These are things you make happen and I was proud to represent you, the members of our district.
The District Convention is just a little more than a month away. We too will have an International Director as our guest speaker. ID Alan “Ted” Reiver and his wife Lion Ann reside in Wilmington, Delaware. They will be our guests at Friday evening’s dinner and they will attend our district meeting Saturday, March 17. They will be our guests and he will be our Key Note Speaker at the banquet. I invite each of you to attend all or just the parts you wish. This is an opportunity to visit and show our support for ID Ted and Lion Ann.
This is an important Convention. We need you to attend and VOTE not only for the next District Governor, and project trustees, but to VOTE for the Amendment to redistrict 25-E1with Districts 25-C & 25-E2 thus creating two strong districts District 25C and District 25E. Each club will have 1 delegate for every 10 members or the greater part of that. If your club has 22 members you will have 2 voting delegates. If you have 25 members you will have 3 votes, plus any PDGs, or PCC you may have in your club.
The State Convention will be held in Merrillville, April 9-11 and our guest will be LCI President Wing-Kun-Tam. Indiana Lions are privileged to have the International President as our guest and speaker at our State Convention. This too is an opportunity to experience what is going on in the state and to see and hear our International President.
Thank you for all you do and you can always be proud to be part of E1. I hope to see you soon. Until then... Yours in Lionism, DG David
